And the best part? Many of these ways to stay cool are free! Plus I’ve made sure to only recommend tips and products that are $25 or under as of this writing so they’re affordable to all. Please check them out!

25 Tips & Easy Ways to Stay Cool in Summer

As the days continue to get warmer, it’s time to look for ways to stay cool and comfortable. Here are my favorite 25 easy tips for staying cool in the warm temperatures!

  1. Drink more water to stay hydrated, which helps your body regulate overall body temperature.
  2. Wear light-colored clothing to reflect the sunlight instead of absorbing it like dark colors do.
  3. Freeze a water bottle or to and use them for portable ice pack that you can also sip as they melt.
  4. Get a handheld fan or a misting fan that you can take with you when you’re on the go.
  5. Wear breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to help keep you cooler.
  6. Avoid using the oven if possible – instead, challenge yourself to make no-cook meals like this filling & delicious Summer Salad recipe or grill outdoors.
  7. Take a cool shower or bath – this lowers your body temperature quickly and you will feel refreshed.
  8. Keep windows and curtains closed during peak sun periods to block out any direct heat. Blackout curtains really help!
  9. Use box fans in your windows to blow the hot air out and pull cool air in.
  10. Ditch the heavy comforter and sleep on top of the covers with a light blanket or throw and a fan.
  11. Another excellent chill hack for hot nights is to freeze your pillowcase – it really works!
  12. Limit your intake of caffeine and alcohol – particularly in the evenings. Both dehydrate you and make it difficult to cool down.
  13. A fun and delicious way to cool off is to make your own popsicles! Grab your favorite fruit and make them healthy too.
  14. If you don’t have the windows or doors across from each other, you can create a cross-breeze by positioning fans across from each other.
  15. Get instant refreshment by wearing a wet scarf or bandana, or a cooling neck wrap.
  16. Avoid direct sunlight whenever possible and seek out the shaded areas instead.
  17. Hang out at the mall or other air-conditioned public places like cafes, libraries or the movies.
  18. Plant your feet in a pan of cold water and let them soak for 10 minutes.
  19. Try aloe lotion or a cooling gel to sooth skin that’s been overheated or burned by the sun.
  20. Hydrate from within by eating water-rich fruits like watermelon, cucumber and berries.
  21. If you live in a multi-story place, try to sleep on one of the lower floors. Heat rises, so the lower floors remain cooler.
  22. Schedule strenuous activites for the morning or cooler evenings and avoid working out midday.
  23. Wrap ice packs on your pulse points – these include wrists, ankles, and behind the knees.
  24. Switch to LED bulbs as they emit less heat than the traditional bulbs, plus they save energy too.
  25. Sleep with a cold water bottle and keep it near your feet to help cool off the whole body.

Again, all of these ways to stay cool are very affordable, and many are absolutely free. And here are 25 more ways to stay cool using various products for yourself, your family and even your beloved pets. And the best part? Nothing is priced over $25.
